Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since we’ve shared on here. Traveling and working remotely has been taking up plenty of our time, so the blog has been on the backburner. But we’re back!

The past 5 months of traveling abroad have given us such a gift. It’s quite challenging to put it into words, but I’ll give it a go. There’s this overwhelming sense of change in the air, particularly when you’re traveling to countries very different from your home.

When we began in Europe, specifically Italy, there was an obvious language barrier that presented a fun challenge for us. We had been learning Italian on Duolingo since January, so some of it was familiar to us. This was also a time to spend with family, so we did some adventuring on our own and some with family. Looking back, Europe shares many similarities with America so we didn’t experience an immense culture shock being there. It felt like dipping our toes into the water.

After leaving Europe and heading to Egypt, we quickly discovered that the world is a HUGE place and it can be so vastly different! This was what I expected when leaving America to travel. The different culture, foods, languages, people, customs, sights, habits, and lifestyles. All of this and more smacked us in the face when we got to Egypt.

That being said, I think I was bit by the travel bug when we arrived to India. I had so many mixed feelings after one week in Egypt! I’ll be honest, the fears were creeping in about India based on what you read from the Internet. While you can’t believe everything you read, it was helpful to obtain some insight and knowledge from others who have traveled to India before. We started off incredibly cautious and slowly ventured out of our comfort zones as time passed. Don’t get me wrong, we did get sick a handful of times. But we always made it through and felt stronger because of it. Being sick then healing & feeling better can bring about such a new attitude and gratitude!

I realize this is such a quick summary of our travels and the day-to-day of the past 5 months would equate to SO much more stories and information. But I’m not ready to divulge all of our memories just yet. I’d like to share some of them for in person connections because those are incredibly important.

At the end of our time in India, we met some really wonderful people. Being able to connect with strangers and become friends is something we were really looking forward to when we started traveling. However, I wasn’t personally ready until now. Being in India has really transformed my perspective and my mental attitude. Adam was always saying that a trip there would be life-changing and I completely understand why. We’re already planning our next trip back because we loved it so much. If you told me that 7 weeks ago when we boarded the plane, I probably would’ve half believed you. Yet, I still took the jump to experience it for myself and haven’t looked back since (even after getting sick a few times).

Traveling is such a great way to open your perspective. But traveling to another country completely different from your home is the best way to get out of your comfort zone on a grand scale. We had such a difficult time finding solid, aluminum free deodorant since we left Europe. It’s these little adaptations to the new world around you that strengthen your confidence and resolve in any situation. It’s sleeping in the cold Delhi airport for 15 hours that proves you can make the best of any situation. It’s getting sick on Christmas that reminds you to go with the flow and listen to your body once in a while when it needs to rest.

I could go on and on here…but the beauty is that our travels aren’t finished and they never will be. Humans are designed for movement, connection, and creation. Even when we stay in one place for the next year, we’ll still be moving and grooving wherever we are in the world.

So I encourage anyone to follow what inspires you and see where it leads.

Much love!

Kelly & Adam

Here are some pictures from the later part of our time in India. Will share more later on!
