final destination: virginia

we finally arrived to Virginia! the drive from Columbus to northern Virginia was by far the longest stretch we’ve done this entire road trip. and it was still only about 7.5 hours! this was very intentional as it’s difficult to sit in a car for long stretches of time. finding a place to stop for the night every 6 hours was the perfect amount of time. but this stretch seemed never ending.

according to Adam, it had the WORST traffic of the entire road trip as well (once we arrived in the DC/Maryland/Virginia zone). this makes total sense too because traffic here has been horrific as long as I can remember. but after driving all throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, we made it!

it’s odd to reflect on the entirety of the road trip now that it is complete. some parts feel like eons ago to me. I am happy and not surprised at all that we survived the trip in such close quarters. most of you know we are just in the beginnings of our relationship and we came out of this unscathed! I thoroughly enjoyed our time on the road and I would even go so far as to say that I miss it already. we’ve only been in Virginia a couple days and I miss those open stretches of road out in the west. even though the trip lasted a month, it was still hard to soak all of it in sometimes because we saw and did so much! there is a whole world out there ready to be experienced by you. it makes me sad that so many of us are unable to see it. this is such an incredible planet we live on.

we want to thank you for being there for us throughout this trip. now that we are in Virginia, we are going to get settled and plant some roots for a little bit. this seems as good a place as any to do some more living. once the summer hits though, that’s a different story! I plan to keep posting on here throughout our time just because so many of you are far away and I enjoy updating our family and friends. we love you all so much!
