sweet santa fe

after Cortez and the Four Corners, we drove all the way down to Santa Fe to stay for a couple nights. we had been on the road a minimum of 4 hours every day for quite a while and needed a break! particularly Adam, being that he’s been driving the entire road trip so far. we’ll see if the time ever comes that I drive haha.

we thoroughly enjoyed our downtime in Santa Fe. I’ll admit we didn’t do much exploring as we were kind of pooped. but we did try some delicious food - an Indian restaurant right next to our hotel and this other hippy café that Adam got to try a Bison burger at.

this town also gave us time to get some well-needed laundry done as well as some fixing on the van. Adam had the pleasure of fixing a few things while I did some laundry.

on our way out of New Mexico, we did make a few worthy stops. one of them being Roswell! the town known for UFO sightings. we found ourselves in the International UFO museum and it was completely worth the stop. Adam has been wanting to find aliens this whole road trip and they seem to be shy. but the museum did not disappoint! we even met the nicest man named Dean who has seen a UFO in his younger days. call him crazy, but we had the best and most interesting conversation with him. safe to say I’m grateful we stopped here!

our next point of interest was Bottomless Lakes State Park. that was a quick visit and it was in lieu of going to the White Sands National Park, which was about 2.5 hours away from Roswell in the OPPOSITE direction we wanted to be going in. the lakes were pretty neat yet also uneventful. there were only a handful of people in this random park, which was pretty much in the middle of nowhere. the lakes were quite small but each of them had distinct features and that was interesting to me. one lake right next to another has a completely different pH and water content.

enough about lakes…we made the trek to Snyder, Texas after that. another random yet purposeful stop on this incredible road trip! stay tuned for more
