saucy savannah
well it’s safe to say that we LOVED Savannah. from the historic style to the food and people, it was such an enjoyable stop on our trip. we planned this very last minute as we weren’t sure where we would stop on our way to Atlanta. it was well worth the stop! we definitely want to come back in the future because there’s so much more to enjoy. we took a trolley ride around the town so we could get a good view of all the squares and the older buildings (and churches). the amount of history there is really cool! and of course the mossy trees and roads are insane - they were probably one of our favorite parts.
food was huge here too - we ate some of the most delicious meals. Treylor Park was the first spot we tried. they had a pot pie that was enclosed like a burrito! and their to-go bloody mary was delicious. of course, we also had to get ice cream so we tried a classic in Savannah, Leopolds! that was seriously bomb ice cream. the next morning, we went on the trolley ride and stopped at a place called Maple Street Biscuit Company. from their cinnamon hot chocolate to their sausage gravy, we loved it all.
we also checked out the river walk for sunset. that was such a nice vibe! we even came across this random building that was a hidden gem. there were some HUGE crystals inside that were sourced from places like Morocco and Belize. they also had some older fossils and bones on display. we have no idea what building we found, but we loved it! there was even a huge dinosaur skeleton made out of metal hanging from the ceiling.
there were 2 scenic spots we made sure to see while we were there too: Forsyth Park and Wormsloe Plantation. they were both beautiful! Savannah has some of the most beautiful trees, in my opinion. I loved the vibe of the parks and squares scattered throughout the town.
what a fun stop-over! after our trolley ride, we made our way toward Atlanta to visit some of Adam’s family. that was a really nice stop as well. spending time with family and with each other has been some of the highlights of our trip. we were able to get together with multiple family members for a dinner and it was a really enjoyable visit. we will definitely be going back in the near future! there was a cracker-barrel meal mixed in there and I honestly had the best pancakes I’ve ever eaten.
post family time, we headed up toward Tennessee!
