las vegas baby
our first stretch was the 5.5 hour drive to Las Vegas with additional stopping for restroom breaks (for me, Adam has a steel bladder).
this is our second time in Vegas together and we stayed at the Flamingo hotel this time. we had the best views of the strip from our room. the Bellagio fountain was within view - that was rad.
being our second trip, we made a point to do some things we missed the first time.
Fremont street was at the top of the list! that was insane. It was such an eclectic group of people in one area! Adam definitely loved it - it was one of his “must-sees”.
we went into the Stratosphere this time around. it was midnight when we went so it was almost deserted, but we got to see the best views of the city lights! it’s waaaay taller than the Space Needle in Seattle, so it was extra fun to be up there.
our second day consisted of a road trip back to California to see Death Valley. that was so dang cool, i would highly recommend that to anyone. worth the long drive (thanks Adam) because you’re amidst the mountains the entire drive. the vibe is so calm out there. and the visitor center had some really cool information about this valley. we have been loving these wide open spaces so much. also, Death Valley has some HUGE crows!
Adam really wanted to find some aliens and Area 51 (we did see some light fall from the sky on our drive to Las Vegas). but fun fact: google maps won’t give you directions. so we settled for this quirky rest stop that was FULL of alien memorabilia. that was a good time.
of course, we did go to a favorite spot again: Bootleggers! our favorite Italian restaurant in Vegas. it was a must on our list.
this time we stopped to see the famous Las Vegas sign. a man ninja-ed his way into taking pictures of us for a “tip”. it was Adam’s worst nightmare haha. but now i have some hilarious photos to treasure.
there was barely any gambling again this time. neither of us are super into it and other things grasp our attention. maybe next time!
we also checked out the Luxor hotel, which is a hotel shaped as a pyramid!! they have 2 great exhibits that we saw: a titanic exhibit and a human bodies exhibit. both were quite interesting if you ask me. that was our last stop before hitting the road again.
Vegas summary: still love this place and want to come back in the future to see and do more!
