We’re back! …again
I’ll be the first to admit that keeping up with a blog is much harder than I thought. However, I’m making a point to jump back in here for those that do check in, particularly because of the big changes that have occurred.
To catch you up, we recently completed a 52 day road trip and circumnavigated the US (surprisingly, this includes both Alaska and Hawai’i). Us and our belongings left Alaska in the beginning of April for a 2 month adventure to move back to Hawaii. These 2 months took us around the US on our biggest road trip so far (we made it to 20 states on this trip!).
Looking back, it feels incredible knowing that we made that happen. However, we owe a lot of it to our family and friends that welcomed us into their homes along the way. We love road trips for this exact purpose - to see the people we love!
Our departure from an island in Alaska was really bittersweet. While we were ready for a new adventure and some exciting things ahead, it was sad to leave the place we called home for a year. We hadn’t stayed put anywhere that long since we both left Hawai’i together a few years ago. Not coincidentally, we picked a pretty interesting place to settle down for a spell.
Overall, our time spent in Alaska was full of challenge, change, and growth. It was a wonderful chapter to follow 6 months of international travel. The beauty of Alaska is something to behold. Even living in an extremely rainy town (up to 14 feet of rain in a year!), we still had many opportunities to experience the quiet, beautiful nature of Alaska. The hardest part (for me) was the absence of sunlight as sunny days were a rarity around there. But the days we had sunshine, it was easy to forget the days of rain that preceded with the landscape before you.
We would definitely return to Alaska in a heartbeat for a trip. There are so many parts that we never had the chance to experience. It’s also unlike anywhere we’ve ever been before. (But the same can be said for Hawai’i). We’re extremely grateful for the opportunities we’ve received and the amazing nature we’ve experience around the world.
In the coming posts, I hope to get further into detail about the past 3 years of our adventures as I feel they haven’t properly been addressed. We’ve told stories here and there to family and friends, but haven’t held our attention on each experience since they originally occurred. I feel they are all equally important and valuable to remember because isn’t life our greatest teacher?
Thank you again for being a part of this blog. I hope this brings you closer to yourself too.
