new orleans isn’t new

after our romp through the huge state of Texas, we arrived in New Orleans. the restrictions are quite intense in this city so we decided to keep our stay real short here. but we still had a blast nonetheless!

on our way into the city, we stopped for some food at a place called Bon Temps. It was popular on Yelp but I wouldn’t eat there again if I’m being honest. it was a fun stop though and Adam almost spilled his water all over me - thankfully we have our entire wardrobe with us in our “home away from home” for any scenario haha.

we arrived early enough in the afternoon that we took an Uber to the French Quarter to walk around. we walked the length of Bourbon Street, ate some beignets at Café du monde, checked out the Riverwalk, heard some beautiful music being played on the street, witnessed lots of riff-raff, got some souvenirs, and ate dinner at a place called Saints and Sinners. now that I look at that list, we actually packed quite a bit into such a short time.

the weather was quite pleasant for the walk around town. and we got to see a lot of the city from our walk even at night. for a Tuesday, it was really deserted and we thoroughly enjoyed that break from the crowds after all the hullabaloo in Texas. we were told Halloween gets real busy and they even have a parade, but we have bigger and better plans for Halloween! stay tuned.

the next morning, we went on an airboat tour just south of New Orleans in a town called Lafitte! the destruction was apparent from the most recent hurricane and our tour guide, Steve told us all about how the storm ravaged the area. even his home was completely demolished, as was the bayou and the swamp. we thoroughly enjoyed the tour though. it was just us with another older couple on this boat. we saw LOTS of alligators - our guide fed them marshmallows so we could see them jump out of the water. it’s crazy how much debris was around the area from the storm. that was quite the experience - Adam and I are so grateful my family recommended it!

after the tour, we obviously had to get beignets again before heading out of the area. then it was a straight drive to Florida! of course on our drive we passed through both Alabama and Mississippi for brief periods of time. but our main destination was Tallahassee so we have a shorter drive to get to Adam’s aunt the next day! I really liked the hotel in this town. it was just really nice and felt like a little apartment and less like a hotel. also, we of course ate Chipotle again after not having it for the last 4 days I believe?

stay tuned for some more adventures
